Description

Ingredients

  • 2 1/4 cups (280g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 3/4 cup (165g) packed brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (340g) semisweet chocolate chips
  • Optional: 1 cup (120g) chopped walnuts or pecans

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
  4. Add eggs one at a time and mix in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually combine flour mixture with wet ingredients.
  6. Fold in chocolate chips (and nuts if using).
  7. Scoop dough onto baking sheet, spacing 2 inches apart.
  8. Bake 9-12 minutes until edges are golden.
  9. Cool 5 minutes on sheet before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill dough for 30 minutes for thicker cookies. Sprinkle sea salt on top for extra flavor. Store in an airtight container up to 5 days or freeze dough for up to 3 months.
