Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup (150g) brown sugar, packed
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1 cup (125g) all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 tbsp high-quality matcha powder
  • ½ cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup (175g) semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Brown the butter in a medium saucepan over medium heat until golden and nutty, then cool slightly.
  2. Whisk together granulated sugar, brown sugar, and eggs until smooth. Add vanilla.
  3. Stir in the browned butter until fully incorporated.
  4. Sift flour, matcha, cocoa, and salt; fold into wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips gently.
  6. Pour into greased and parchment-lined 8×8-inch pan. Smooth the top.
  7. Bake at 175°C (350°F) for 30–35 minutes, until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
  8. Cool completely before slicing and serving.

Notes

Slightly underbake for fudgier brownies. Swap semi-sweet chocolate chips for white chocolate for a twist. Store in an airtight container or freeze individually for convenience.
