Description
These chocolate chip cookies are soft in the center, chewy around the edges, and filled with gooey chocolate chips. Simple ingredients and easy steps make them the perfect homemade treat for family, friends, or just yourself.
Ingredients
2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon salt
1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
¾ cup granulated sugar
¾ cup packed light brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
1 cup chopped nuts (optional, like walnuts or pecans)
Instructions
In a medium bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
Gradually add the flour mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
Fold in the chocolate chips and nuts (if using).
(Optional) Chill the dough for 30 minutes for extra chewy cookies.
Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Bake 9–11 minutes, until edges are golden but centers still look soft.
Let cool on the baking sheet for 2 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Notes
For chewier cookies, chill dough before baking.
Swap chocolate chips for chunks or white chocolate for variety.
Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days.
Freeze cookie dough balls for quick baking later.
