Description

Classic Beef Chili is my cozy, flavor-packed favorite. Hearty beef, beans, peppers, and spices simmer to perfection, creating a comforting dish full of warmth and family memories.


Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 red bell pepper, diced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
  • 500g ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 400g canned chopped tomatoes
  • 400g canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
  • 200ml beef stock
  • 2 teaspoons chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1 teaspoon ground cumin
  • 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1/2 teaspoon sugar
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Optional toppings: grated cheddar, sour cream, chopped parsley

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pan. Sauté onions until soft.
  2. Add garlic and bell peppers; cook 2–3 minutes.
  3. Add ground beef; cook until browned.
  4. Stir in tomato paste; cook 1–2 minutes.
  5. Add tomatoes, beans, and beef stock; mix well.
  6. Season with spices and sugar; stir to combine.
  7. Simmer on low for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  8. Adjust seasoning before serving.

Notes

Brown beef well for deeper flavor. Toast spices for extra aroma. Add a pinch of sugar to balance acidity. Chili freezes well; store in airtight containers.
