Classic Beef Chili is my cozy, flavor-packed favorite. Hearty beef, beans, peppers, and spices simmer to perfection, creating a comforting dish full of warmth and family memories.

- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 large onion, finely chopped
- 3 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 red bell pepper, diced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
- 500g ground beef
- 2 tablespoons tomato paste
- 400g canned chopped tomatoes
- 400g canned kidney beans, drained and rinsed
- 200ml beef stock
- 2 teaspoons chili powder
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1/2 teaspoon sugar
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- Optional toppings: grated cheddar, sour cream, chopped parsley
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large pan. Sauté onions until soft.
- Add garlic and bell peppers; cook 2–3 minutes.
- Add ground beef; cook until browned.
- Stir in tomato paste; cook 1–2 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, beans, and beef stock; mix well.
- Season with spices and sugar; stir to combine.
- Simmer on low for 25–30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- Adjust seasoning before serving.
Notes
Brown beef well for deeper flavor. Toast spices for extra aroma. Add a pinch of sugar to balance acidity. Chili freezes well; store in airtight containers.
