Ingredients

- 225g unsalted butter, softened
- 150g granulated sugar
- 150g light brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 300g plain flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- ½ tsp salt
- 300g chocolate chips
- Optional: 50g chopped walnuts or pecans
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C and line baking sheets.
- Cream butter and sugars until fluffy.
- Beat in eggs and vanilla.
- Fold in flour, baking soda, and salt.
- Stir in chocolate chips (and nuts).
- Scoop dough onto sheets.
- Bake 10–12 minutes until edges golden.
- Cool on sheet 5 minutes, then transfer to wire rack.
Notes
Chill dough for thicker cookies. Don’t overmix flour. Can freeze dough or baked cookies for later enjoyment.
