- 8 slices of thick bread (day-old works best)

Instructions
- Whisk eggs, milk, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a medium bowl.
- (Optional) Separate eggs, whip whites to soft peaks, and fold into custard.
- Preheat skillet over medium heat and melt 1 tbsp butter.
- Dip bread slices into custard, coating both sides.
- Fry each slice for 2–3 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Repeat with remaining slices, adding butter as needed.
- Keep cooked slices warm in a low oven while finishing the batch.
- Serve immediately with toppings of choice.
Notes
Use day-old bread for best texture. Don’t overcrowd the skillet. Custard can be made ahead for faster mornings. Optional toppings: Greek yogurt, fruit compote, or chocolate spread.
