Description

My Classic Homemade Lasagna recipe is a comforting layered dish with rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, tender pasta, and bubbling mozzarella. Perfect for family dinners and cozy nights, this lasagna is easy to make, freezer-friendly, and full of flavor.


Ingredients

2 tbsp olive oil, 1 medium onion chopped, 2 garlic cloves minced, 500g ground beef, 400g chopped tomatoes, 2 tbsp tomato paste, 1 tsp sugar, 1 tsp dried oregano, 1 tsp dried basil, salt and pepper, 50g butter, 50g flour, 600ml milk, pinch nutmeg, 250g lasagna sheets, 200g mozzarella, 50g Parmesan


Instructions

1. Sauté onion and garlic in olive oil until soft. 2. Brown ground beef. 3. Add tomatoes, paste, sugar, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer 20-25 mins. 4. Make béchamel: melt butter, add flour, whisk in milk, add nutmeg, salt, pepper until thick. 5. Preheat oven 180°C. 6. Layer meat sauce, pasta, béchamel, cheese. Repeat. 7. Bake covered 25 mins, uncovered 20 mins. 8. Rest 10-15 mins before serving.


Notes

Sauté onions and garlic for flavor. Simmer sauce for depth. Assemble ahead for convenience. Freeze before baking if needed.
