Description

These Japanese Matcha White Chocolate Dessert Bars are soft, fudgy, and full of delicate green tea flavor. Made with vibrant matcha powder and creamy white chocolate chunks, they bake into luscious squares with slightly crisp edges. Perfect for tea time, dessert trays, or cozy afternoons, these bars are elegant, comforting, and easy to make.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 1/2 cups granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon matcha powder
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup white chocolate chunks or chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and line an 8×8-inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. Whisk melted butter and sugar together until smooth.
  3. Add eggs and vanilla extract and whisk until creamy.
  4. Sift matcha powder into the mixture and fold gently.
  5. Add flour, baking powder, and salt; fold until just combined.
  6. Fold in white chocolate chunks or chips.
  7. Pour batter into prepared pan and smooth the top.
  8. Bake for 25–30 minutes until edges are set and center is soft.
  9. Cool completely before slicing into squares.

Notes

Use high-quality matcha powder for the best color and flavor. Avoid overmixing to keep bars soft and fudgy. Let bars cool before slicing for clean squares. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or freeze for longer storage.
