Description

This easy and comforting lasagna recipe for dinner features layers of rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, tender pasta, and melty cheese. Perfect for cozy family evenings and memorable meals.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 500g lean ground beef
  • 1 large onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (400g) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp chili flakes (optional)
  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper
  • 250g lasagna sheets
  • 500ml whole milk
  • 50g butter
  • 50g plain flour
  • 200g grated mozzarella cheese
  • 50g grated Parmesan cheese
  • A pinch of nutmeg
  • Olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a pan. Sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  2. Add ground meat, cook until browned.
  3. Stir in crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, herbs, chili flakes, salt, and pepper. Simmer 30 min.
  4. Make béchamel: melt butter, whisk in flour, gradually add milk. Add nutmeg and half mozzarella.
  5. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  6. Layer meat sauce, lasagna sheets, and béchamel. Repeat, finishing with béchamel. Top with Parmesan and remaining mozzarella.
  7. Bake covered for 25 min, uncover and bake 15-20 min until golden.
  8. Rest 10 min before serving.

Notes

Simmer meat sauce slowly for richer flavor. Add a pinch of sugar to balance tomato acidity. Leftovers last 3-4 days refrigerated or freeze portions.
