Description

This moist chocolate cake is rich, soft, and deeply chocolatey. Made with simple ingredients, it delivers bakery-style texture with an incredibly tender crumb and intense cocoa flavor.


Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup hot water or coffee

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven and grease cake pan.
  2. Mix all dry ingredients in a bowl.
  3. In another bowl, mix wet ingredients.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently.
  5. Add hot water or coffee slowly.
  6. Pour batter into prepared pan.
  7. Bake until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Cool completely before serving or frosting.

Notes

Use hot coffee instead of water for deeper flavor. Do not overmix batter. Store in airtight container for up to 5 days. Best served slightly warm or with chocolate ganache.
