Description

This Simple Lasagna Recipe is a comforting, cheesy classic perfect for family dinners. Layers of tender pasta, rich meat sauce, and creamy ricotta make every bite irresistible.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna sheets
  • 500g ground beef
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 800g canned chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 500g ricotta cheese
  • 250g shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 50g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Heat olive oil in a pan, sauté onion and garlic until soft.
  3. Add ground beef, cook until browned.
  4. Stir in chopped tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, salt, and pepper. Simmer 15–20 minutes.
  5. Mix ricotta, egg, and Parmesan in a bowl until smooth.
  6. Spread a thin layer of meat sauce in a baking dish.
  7. Layer lasagna sheets, ricotta mixture, meat sauce, and mozzarella. Repeat layers.
  8. Top with mozzarella and Parmesan.
  9. Cover with foil, bake 30 minutes.
  10. Remove foil, bake 10–15 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  11. Let rest 10–15 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • No-boil pasta works well.
  • Add vegetables like spinach or zucchini for extra nutrition.
  • Make ahead and refrigerate for a day before baking.
  • Freeze portions for up to 2 months.
