- 1 box yellow cake mix
- Ingredients required by cake mix
- 1 package (3 oz) strawberry lemonade Jello
- 1 cup boiling water
- ½ cup cold water
- 1 package (8 oz) cream cheese, softened
- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 3 cups powdered sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- Fresh strawberries, sliced (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat oven and prepare pan.
- Bake cake as directed and cool slightly.
- Dissolve jello in boiling water, stir in cold water, and cool slightly.
- Poke holes all over cake with wooden spoon handle.
- Pour jello over cake and refrigerate 2 hours.
- Beat cream cheese and butter until smooth.
- Add powdered sugar and vanilla; spread over chilled cake.
- Garnish with strawberries.
Notes
Poke holes while cake is warm for best jello absorption. Chill completely before frosting. Store refrigerated up to 4 days.
