- 8 slices brioche or thick-cut white bread
- 1 cup fresh strawberries, sliced
- ½ cup Nutella, softened
- 4 large eggs
- ½ cup whole milk
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- Butter or neutral oil, for cooking
- Powdered sugar, for garnish (optional)
- Maple syrup, for serving
Instructions
- Wash, hull, and slice strawberries. Spread Nutella on 4 slices of bread, layer strawberries, and top with remaining slices.
- Whisk eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt in a shallow bowl.
- Dip each sandwich in custard for 15–20 seconds per side.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat with butter/oil. Cook sandwiches 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
- Serve immediately with powdered sugar, maple syrup, or extra fruit.
Notes
Use brioche or challah for best results. Assemble sandwiches ahead for easy brunch prep. Freeze leftovers wrapped in foil and thaw before cooking. Avoid over-soaking bread to prevent sogginess.
