Description

My Traditional French Toast Recipe is a cozy breakfast classic. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, and cinnamon. Dip thick bread slices into the mixture, then fry in butter until golden brown. Serve with maple syrup, powdered sugar, and fresh fruit. Perfect for weekends, brunches, or family mornings, this recipe is simple, comforting, and full of love.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • 8 slices thick bread (brioche or white)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • Maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries for serving

Instructions

  1. Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until frothy.
  2. Preheat a non-stick pan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp butter.
  3. Dip bread in egg mixture, coat both sides.
  4. Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
  5. Repeat with remaining slices, adding butter as needed.
  6. Serve warm with toppings of choice.

Notes

Day-old bread works best for soaking. Medium heat prevents burning while creating a golden crust. Reheat gently in skillet or oven; avoid microwaves for best texture. Customize with berries, nuts, or whipped cream.
