- 1 cup whole milk
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- Pinch of salt
- 8 slices thick bread (brioche or white)
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
- Maple syrup, powdered sugar, fresh berries for serving
Instructions
- Whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt until frothy.
- Preheat a non-stick pan over medium heat, melt 1 tbsp butter.
- Dip bread in egg mixture, coat both sides.
- Fry 2–3 minutes per side until golden.
- Repeat with remaining slices, adding butter as needed.
- Serve warm with toppings of choice.
Notes
Day-old bread works best for soaking. Medium heat prevents burning while creating a golden crust. Reheat gently in skillet or oven; avoid microwaves for best texture. Customize with berries, nuts, or whipped cream.
