Description

This Traditional Lasagna Recipe is a comforting Italian classic, combining layers of rich meat sauce, creamy béchamel, and gooey mozzarella cheese. Perfect for family dinners or cozy nights at home, this lasagna brings warmth, flavor, and joy to every bite.


Ingredients

  • 12 lasagna sheets
  • 500g minced beef
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 800g canned chopped tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp tomato paste
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 400ml béchamel sauce
  • 200g grated mozzarella cheese
  • 50g grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil, cook onions and garlic until soft.
  2. Brown the minced beef, then add tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer 20–25 minutes.
  3. Prepare béchamel sauce if needed: melt butter, whisk in flour, gradually add milk, season.
  4. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Layer meat sauce, pasta, béchamel, and cheese in a baking dish. Repeat layers.
  5. Cover with foil, bake 25 minutes. Remove foil, bake 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  6. Serve with salad and crusty bread.

Notes

  • Simmer the sauce slowly for best flavor.
  • Add a pinch of sugar to balance acidity.
  • Lasagna can be made ahead and refrigerated.
  • Leftovers reheat well in the oven.
