- 12 lasagna sheets
- 500g minced beef
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 garlic cloves, minced
- 800g canned chopped tomatoes
- 2 tbsp tomato paste
- 1 tsp dried oregano
- 1 tsp dried basil
- 1/2 tsp sugar
- Salt and black pepper, to taste
- 400ml béchamel sauce
- 200g grated mozzarella cheese
- 50g grated Parmesan cheese
- 2 tbsp olive oil
Instructions
- Heat olive oil, cook onions and garlic until soft.
- Brown the minced beef, then add tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, sugar, salt, and pepper. Simmer 20–25 minutes.
- Prepare béchamel sauce if needed: melt butter, whisk in flour, gradually add milk, season.
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Layer meat sauce, pasta, béchamel, and cheese in a baking dish. Repeat layers.
- Cover with foil, bake 25 minutes. Remove foil, bake 15–20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
- Serve with salad and crusty bread.
Notes
- Simmer the sauce slowly for best flavor.
- Add a pinch of sugar to balance acidity.
- Lasagna can be made ahead and refrigerated.
- Leftovers reheat well in the oven.
