Description
This classic guacamole elevates the humble avocado into a vibrant, restaurant-quality dip. By macerating the white onion and serrano pepper in fresh lime juice before combining, the harsh raw bite of the aromatics is tempered, creating a perfectly balanced flavor profile. Featuring fresh cilantro and high-quality Hass avocados, this crowd-pleasing appetizer delivers a creamy, chunky texture that is perfect for pairing with thick tortilla chips or topping your favorite Mexican-inspired main course.
Ingredients
3 large Hass avocados
2 tbsp fresh lime juice
1/4 cup white onion, finely diced
1 small serrano pepper, seeded and minced
1/3 cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped
1/2 tsp kosher salt
Instructions
In a medium bowl, combine the diced white onion, minced serrano pepper, and lime juice.
Let the onion and pepper mixture sit for 5 minutes to mellow the flavors.
Slice the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into the bowl containing the onion mixture.
Mash the avocado with a fork to your desired consistency, leaving some chunks for texture.
Fold in the chopped cilantro gently.
Season with kosher salt to taste and serve immediately in a chilled bowl.
Notes
Ensure avocados are slightly soft to the touch before using. If you prefer less heat, remove all membranes from the serrano pepper. For the best flavor, use fresh lime juice only, avoiding bottled versions.
