Description

This Caramel Apple Crisp is the ultimate autumn comfort dessert, blending tart Granny Smith apples with a decadent caramel drizzle and a crispy, buttery oat topping. Perfectly balanced and simple to assemble, it offers a bakery-quality experience in under an hour. It is a crowd-pleasing classic for cozy October evenings or holiday gatherings, featuring a wonderful contrast of tender fruit and golden, crunchy crumble.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and thinly sliced
1 cup brown sugar, divided
1.5 cups old fashioned oats
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
0.5 cup caramel sauce
1 tsp ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
In a large bowl, toss the apple slices with half of the brown sugar and the ground cinnamon.
Arrange the apple mixture evenly into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
Drizzle the caramel sauce evenly over the apple layer.
In a separate medium bowl, combine the oats, flour, and the remaining half of the brown sugar.
Cut the cold, cubed butter into the dry mixture using a pastry cutter until the consistency resembles coarse crumbs.
Spread the oat crumble mixture evenly over the top of the apples.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

Notes

Ensure the butter is very cold when cutting it into the dry ingredients to achieve the perfect crumbly texture. You can serve this warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a dollop of whipped cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
