Description

Indulge in a classic fall comfort dessert featuring tart, firm Granny Smith and sweet Honeycrisp apples tossed in cinnamon. This dish is topped with a buttery, golden brown sugar and oat crumble that stays perfectly crisp. A generous drizzle of rich salted caramel ties the flavors together, providing a gooey, decadent finish that makes this dish the perfect centerpiece for family gatherings or cozy weekend breakfasts.

Ingredients

Scale

6 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and sliced into 1/2 inch wedges
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 cup old-fashioned oats
1/2 cup unsalted butter, chilled and cubed
1/2 cup salted caramel sauce

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine the peeled and sliced apples in a large bowl with the granulated sugar and half of the cinnamon.
Toss the apple mixture thoroughly until every slice is coated evenly and transfer to a greased 9×13 inch baking dish.
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, oats, the remaining cinnamon, and the chilled butter, cutting the butter in until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
Sprinkle the topping evenly over the apple layer in the baking dish.
Bake for 45 minutes until the topping is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.
Drizzle the salted caramel sauce over the entire dish immediately after removing from the oven.

Notes

Use a mixture of Granny Smith and Honeycrisp apples for the best balance of structure and sweetness. Do not use instant oats as they will become too mushy. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
