- 125 ml water
- 60 g unsalted butter
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 75 g all-purpose flour
- 2 large eggs
- 100 g Gruyère cheese, grated
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C and line a baking tray.
- Boil water, butter, and salt.
- Add flour and stir until dough forms.
- Cook dough for 2 minutes.
- Let cool slightly and add eggs one by one.
- Mix in Gruyère cheese and spices.
- Spoon dough onto tray.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
Notes
Use freshly grated Gruyère for best flavor. Do not open the oven early to prevent collapsing. You can freeze baked gougères and reheat before serving.
