Ingredients
1 cup unsalted butter, softened to room temperature
1 cup granulated sugar
1 large egg
2 tsp pure vanilla extract
1/2 tsp almond extract
2.5 cups all-purpose flour
1 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/2 cup holiday sprinkles (jimmies style)
Instructions
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
In a large bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until the mixture is pale and fluffy.
Beat in the egg, vanilla extract, and almond extract until well combined.
In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, mixing until a dough forms.
Scoop portions of dough, roll them into balls, and coat each ball thoroughly in the holiday sprinkles.
Place the balls onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
Bake for 10 minutes or until the edges are set but the centers remain soft.
Cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Ensure your butter is at room temperature for the best emulsion. Using jimmies instead of nonpareils prevents the colors from bleeding into the dough. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days.
