Description

Indulge in a classic Southern dessert featuring juicy, sweetened peaches topped with a golden, buttery biscuit crust. This timeless recipe uses simple pantry staples to create a warm, comforting treat. By layering the batter over the fruit, you achieve a perfect contrast between a crisp, tender cake top and a jammy, flavorful peach base. It is the ultimate crowd-pleasing dessert that is simple to prepare and even better when served warm with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream.

Ingredients

Scale

6 cups fresh or thawed frozen peach slices
1 cup granulated sugar, divided
1 cup all-purpose flour
1 tablespoon baking powder
1 cup whole milk
1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit.
Combine sliced peaches with 1/2 cup of sugar in a mixing bowl and let macerate for 10 minutes.
Whisk the flour, remaining 1/2 cup of sugar, and baking powder in a separate medium bowl.
Gradually stir in the milk until the batter is smooth and lump-free.
Pour the melted butter into a 9×13 baking dish.
Pour the batter over the butter without stirring.
Layer the peach mixture evenly on top of the batter.
Bake for 45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the fruit is bubbling.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave before serving.
