Description
These Gougères with Herbs are light, airy French cheese puffs made with Gruyère and fresh herbs. Perfectly golden, crisp on the outside, and soft inside, they make an elegant yet easy appetizer for any occasion.

- 1 cup water
- 100 g unsalted butter
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, finely chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh chives, finely chopped
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 200°C (400°F) and line a baking tray.
- Bring water and butter to a boil.
- Add flour and stir until dough forms.
- Cook for 2 minutes, then cool slightly.
- Add eggs one at a time, mixing well.
- Stir in cheese, herbs, salt, and pepper.
- Spoon dough onto tray.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden.
Notes
Use freshly grated cheese for best texture. Do not open the oven early. You can freeze unbaked dough for later use. Reheat baked gougères in the oven to restore crispness.
