Description

Indulge in this classic holiday confection, featuring a smooth, rich base of dark chocolate topped with a creamy layer of white chocolate and a festive crunch of peppermint. Perfectly balanced for a refreshing finish, this recipe uses a simple double-boiler method to achieve a professional-grade snap and aesthetic appeal. It is an ideal, elegant treat for winter celebrations that avoids unnecessary additives, relying on pure peppermint extract for that signature clean and cooling taste.

Ingredients

Scale

10 oz dark chocolate (60% cocoa solids or higher)
10 oz high-quality white chocolate
1 tsp peppermint extract (divided)
2 tsp coconut oil (divided)
1/2 cup peppermint candies, crushed

Instructions

Prepare a baking sheet by lining it with parchment paper.
Melt the dark chocolate with 1 tsp of coconut oil in a double boiler over low heat.
Stir in half of the peppermint extract until smooth.
Pour the dark chocolate onto the tray, spreading to an even 1/4-inch thickness.
Chill in the refrigerator for 20 minutes until firm.
Melt the white chocolate with the remaining coconut oil in a clean double boiler.
Remove from heat and stir in the remaining peppermint extract.
Spread the white chocolate evenly over the chilled dark chocolate layer.
Immediately sprinkle the crushed peppermint candies over the top.
Chill in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour until completely set.
Break or cut into pieces once firm.

Notes

Ensure the first layer is completely set before adding the white chocolate to prevent colors from bleeding. Use high-quality white chocolate bars rather than chips for the best texture. Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator to maintain the snap.
