  • 1 1/2 cups heavy whipping cream
  • 3 tablespoons powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Slice the strawberries and mix them with sugar and vanilla extract in a bowl.
  2. Let the strawberries sit for 30 minutes to release their juices.
  3. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking tray with parchment paper.

  5. Cut the cold butter into the flour mixture until crumbly.
  6. Whisk heavy cream, egg, and vanilla in another bowl.
  7. Combine wet and dry ingredients gently until dough forms.
  8. Pat the dough onto a floured surface and cut into rounds.
  9. Bake for 14 to 16 minutes until golden brown.
  10. Whip cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla until soft peaks form.
  11. Slice the shortcakes and layer with strawberries and whipped cream.
  12. Serve immediately and enjoy.

Notes

Use very cold butter for flaky and tender shortcakes. Fresh strawberries provide the best flavor and texture. Prepare the strawberries ahead of time for extra syrupy sweetness. Store leftovers separately in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
