- 1 sheet shortcrust pastry
- 150g smoked bacon, diced
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 3 large eggs
- 200ml heavy cream
- 50ml whole milk
- 100g Gruyère cheese, grated
- Salt and black pepper to taste
- Pinch of nutmeg
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
- Roll out pastry and cut circles to fit muffin tin.
- Press pastry into each muffin cup.
- Cook bacon until crispy, then add onion and soften.
- Whisk eggs, cream, milk, salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
- Add cheese and bacon mixture into pastry shells.
- Pour egg mixture evenly into each shell.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until golden and set.
- Cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use Gruyère for authentic flavor. You can substitute with cheddar if needed. Store in fridge up to 3 days or freeze for later. Reheat in oven for best texture.
