Description

Indulge in this classic holiday treat featuring layers of rich, 60% dark chocolate and creamy white chocolate. Infused with pure peppermint extract for a refreshing winter flavor, this elegant bark is finished with a satisfying crunch of crushed candy canes. It is the perfect centerpiece for holiday gatherings or a thoughtful, homemade gift for friends and family.

Ingredients

Scale

12 ounces dark chocolate (60% cacao or higher)
12 ounces high-quality white chocolate
1 teaspoon peppermint extract
6–8 candy canes

Instructions

Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
Melt the dark chocolate in a heatproof bowl using a double boiler over low simmering water.
Stir half of the peppermint extract into the melted dark chocolate.
Spread the dark chocolate into an even rectangle on the prepared baking sheet.
Refrigerate for 20 minutes until the base is firm.
Melt the white chocolate in a clean bowl over the double boiler.
Whisk the remaining peppermint extract into the white chocolate.
Pour the white chocolate over the chilled dark chocolate base and spread evenly.
Immediately sprinkle the crushed candy canes over the wet white chocolate layer.
Refrigerate for at least 1 hour until completely set before breaking into pieces.

Notes

Use high-quality chocolate bars rather than chips for a smoother melt and better snap. Ensure no water droplets fall into the chocolate during the melting process to prevent seizing. Store in an airtight container in a cool place for up to two weeks.
