Description
Achieve restaurant-quality, creamy mashed potatoes without the hassle of boiling water. This slow cooker method uses gentle, even heat to cook Yukon Gold potatoes to perfection, resulting in a fluffy and luxurious texture. By simmering in their own moisture along with rich butter and heavy cream, these potatoes develop a superior, concentrated flavor that remains warm and ready to serve whenever you are. It is the ultimate hands-off side dish for any gathering or weeknight family meal.
Ingredients
5 lbs Yukon Gold Potatoes
1 cup Unsalted Butter, room temperature
1.5 cups Heavy Cream
1 tsp Garlic Powder
2 tsp Sea Salt
0.5 tsp Black Pepper
Instructions
Peel the potatoes thoroughly and slice them into uniform two-inch chunks.
Rinse the potato pieces under cold water to remove excess surface starch.
Place the potato chunks into the slow cooker basin.
Add the butter, salt, garlic powder, and black pepper directly over the potatoes.
Pour the heavy cream over the mixture.
Cover the slow cooker and cook on high for 4 hours until potatoes are fork-tender.
Mash the potatoes directly in the slow cooker basin until reaching your desired consistency.
Notes
Use Russet potatoes if you prefer a starchier, fluffier texture instead of the creaminess of Yukon Gold. For a stronger aroma, you can replace garlic powder with two cloves of fresh minced garlic. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
