Description

This creamy zucchini gratin is a comforting baked dish made with tender zucchini, rich cream, and melted cheese. Perfect as a side or a light main course, it’s simple, flavorful, and irresistibly golden on top.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 medium zucchini, thinly sliced
  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 cup grated Gruyère cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1/2 teaspoon thyme
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F).
  2. Melt butter and sauté onion until soft.
  3. Add garlic and cook for 1 minute.
  4. Add zucchini and cook until slightly tender.
  5. Mix cream, milk, and seasonings.
  6. Transfer zucchini to baking dish.
  7. Pour cream mixture over.
  8. Top with cheeses.
  9. Bake for 30–35 minutes until golden.
  10. Let rest before serving.

Notes

Sautéing zucchini prevents excess moisture. You can substitute Gruyère with cheddar. Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days and reheat in the oven for best texture.
